Australian motorists are being told to take advantage of five days of respite before the full effect of the national fuel excise being reinstated tonight is felt.
Officials believe low-excise fuel still within the supply chain will be offered by service stations at a cheaper price, as they battle for a competitive advantage during the school holidays.
Experts see petrol remaining at low excise prices for an average of five days.
