A money-saving mum has revealed how she spent just £250 on a massive Christmas haul for her whole family last year, after swapping brand new presents with pre-loved bargains
A thrifty mum has officially cracked Christmas by filling her entire living room with festive presents, but she only paid a fraction of the price for the impressive haul.
Francesca, who is rightfully known as “your online thrifting bestie”, regularly uploads money-saving hacks to her social media. In one video, the finance guru lifted the lid on how she spent just £250 last Christmas on a huge bundle of presents for her young family.
The beautifully-wrapped haul boasted more than 50 presents, which took up over half of the living room floor. The TikTok user, who goes by @francescacharityshop online, kicked-off the video with: “Would you believe me if I told you that I spent £250 last Christmas and I got all of that stuff?”
The camera then panned to the toy section of a high street store, to which Francesca said: “I didn’t go to shops like this and pay full price.” Instead, the savvy shopper revealed how she visited charity shops to find the perfect presents.
Francesca continued: “I’m on a mission to make Christmas as cheap as possible, but I want to get good quality items that I know my children will love and cherish and they will have the most magical day. I have a nine-year-old and I have a three-year-old, so if you have children of a similar age, stick around because I have so much to show you.”
With Christmas just around the corner, Francesca has started sharing shopping secrets and simple tricks to sticking to a budget. “I’m going to be sharing what charity shops are the best to visit and I’m going to be taking you on my journey of everything I managed to find for my children,” she added.
Francesca is hoping to “break the stigma” that secondhand is second class with her handy videos, and prove that families don’t have to fork out a hefty figure to have a magical day. She said: “You might think that you can only find things for small children in charity shops, but I’m going to be showing you things for teenagers, for your friends and for your family, for your parents.”
