Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley says she is “very happy” being deputy under Peter Dutton and believes the Opposition leader can “absolutely” become prime minister at the next election.
Ms Ley is the second woman to be the deputy federal leader of the Liberal Party after Julie Bishop held the position for 11 years from 2007 to 2018.
“I’m very happy being the deputy,” Ms Ley told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“I’m delighted to support Peter Dutton … who absolutely can become prime minister whenever the next election is held.
“History in the future (is) completely beyond our control. I’m very happy with the present and everything that I’m doing in it.”
